What does KeyNesta store on its servers?
Account · Help center · Current as of 2026-10-10
Short answer
With sync switched on: your encrypted vault as ciphertext, an account record with your email address, and ordinary web server logs kept for at most 15 days. Without sync: nothing at all. There is no analytics SDK, no tracker and no advertising identifier in the app or on this website.
With sync on
- The encrypted vault. An opaque blob. No key to it exists on the server.
- An account identifier, and the sign-in method you chose.
- Operational metadata — blob size and when it last changed — because synchronising requires knowing something changed.
- Server logs of the kind any web server keeps, deleted after at most 15 days.
Where it physically sits
On Hetzner Online GmbH infrastructure in Finland. The data controller is BitsSolved Software, the sole proprietorship behind KeyNesta, registered in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, India. The privacy policy has the retention periods and your rights over all of it.
What is never collected
No phone number, no contacts, no advertising identifier, no analytics SDK. This website makes no third-party requests and sets no cookies, which you can verify in your browser's network tab rather than taking on trust. On Android, the QR scanner is Google's ML Kit, which sends Google diagnostic data; the privacy policy lists it.
Every record, field by field
What the KeyNesta server stores lists each record the sync database keeps, which fields it holds, and which of them are ciphertext.
