Is KeyNesta sync free?
Sync & devices · Help center · Current as of 2026-10-10
Short answer
Sync is free during launch. Generating codes, manual encrypted backups and export are free permanently and are not going behind a paywall. A paid tier is planned for extras such as automatic cloud backups, more synced devices and smart groups, but no billing exists in the product today.
Free permanently
- Generating TOTP and HOTP codes, with no limit on how many you store.
- Vaults, spaces, groups and tags.
- Manual encrypted backup files, and restoring from them.
- Export, in full, whenever you want it.
If the free version is not trustworthy the paid one will not be either, which is why the parts that protect you from lock-in are the parts that stay free.
Free during launch
Sync. It is not yet decided where it lands permanently, and saying so is more useful than a promise that gets quietly revised.
Planned for a paid tier
Automatic cloud backups, more synced devices and smart groups. None of it is built, there is no billing in the product today, and no date is being quoted. Pricing carries the current position.
